Effective Monitoring and Evaluation

The aim of this course is to help organisations understand how monitoring and evaluation can be helpful and to help them consider the first steps towards developing simple monitoring and evaluation systems. To enable organisations identify outputs and outcomes, identify the data they need to collect, provide good practice guidance in collecting data and how to use the information collected.
This session would be aimed at small organisations with little or no experience of monitoring and evaluation.
You will cover a brief introduction to the following:
- Understand the difference between monitoring and evaluating
- Identify areas of work to be monitored and evaluated
- Identify stakeholders
- Explore a variety of methods of monitoring
- Understand issues of confidentiality and data protection
- Look at the advantages and disadvantages of different methods
- Understand the resource implications
- Understand the different 'audiences' for the evaluation
- Consider different ways of disseminating evaluation
- Understand how to deal with implications of evaluation
