Two Speaking Up learners, Michelle and Maggie, shared their experiences of the course and how it had helped them make a difference in their community at the regional Big Society Conference in Taunton, November 2010. The learners impressed a delegation of over 150 senior representatives from local government voluntary sector organisations with their confident delivery and ongoing community and personal development.

In February 2011, Speaking Up learner Katrina Commander gave a presentation to Labour Party leader Ed Milliband and local MP Ben Bradshaw about her personal development through the Speaking Up courses. The presentation was part of a meeting at Wonford Community Centre about the impact of budget cuts on local women.
