Speaking Up Learner Presents to Labour Party Leader
In February 2011, Speaking Up learner Katrina Commander gave a presentation to Labour Party leader Ed Milliband and local MP Ben Bradshaw about her personal development through the Speaking Up courses. The presentation was part of a meeting at Wonford Community Centre about the impact of budget cuts on local women.
Speaking Up Learners Visit to Parliament
In this radio interview on Phonic FM's 'CVS Show' Speaking Up learners Abby and Sinead talked about their experience on the course, and of the visit to Parliament they took in 2010 - which included a parliamentary outreach workshop, a guided tour of the houses, and a question and answer session with MP Ben Bradshaw. Speaking Up at a Regional Conference
Two Speaking Up learners, Michelle and Maggie, shared their experiences of the course and how it had helped them make a difference in their community at the regional Big Society Conference in Taunton, November 2010. The learners impressed a delegation of over 150 senior representatives from local government voluntary sector organisations with their confident delivery and ongoing community and personal development.
