Exeter CVS Radio Show
Usually broadcast on local community radio station Phonic FM106.8 on Thursdays from 2-4pm, the CVS show includes news, discussion and interviews about different CVS projects, the work of its members, and the latest volunteering opportunities (set to 90s trance music by DJ Volops and Apache Starfighter!)... as well as light-hearted chat and an eclectic range of music.

Poltimore House's Restoration Project is no "behind-the scenes-wait-till-it's-finished-before-you-look" operation.
We can all be a part of it, and on today's CVS Radio Show Poltimore's Volunteer Co-ordinator Simon Tootell and Friend of Poltimore Pat Read joined John to talk about the hands-on opportunities available to volunteers, and the Calendar of Events for 2012 that we can all go along and enjoy.

Stallcombe House

Get involved in a dream that came true - organic food growing, alpacas, horses, goats, and a range of crafts, cookery and arts activities await anyone who would like an exciting and rewarding day out.
Or better still, why not volunteer at Stallcombe House and help the residents get the most out of their work while gaining both support experience and practical skills?
Stallcombe trustee Chris joined us on the show to talk about this exceptional residential home for adults with learning disabilities, and how they hope that more people will come along and help out by taking advantage of the Activity Days or by joining as a trustee or hands-on volunteer.
We were also joined by Paul Simmons of Curo CSR who has been working with Stallcombe to get socially responsible businesses to support their work, and he told us about the upcoming Corporate Charity Golf Day event at Woodbury Golf Club on 19th April.
Paul is encouraging local businesses to upskill their staff while supporting the work of local charities through ongoing volunteer work and one-off events.

Also on the show this week: Riverside Christian Centre are holding a Craft Day on Saturday 10th March from 10 till 2 - plenty of fair-trade cake and craft stalls ahoy!

Then Karen updated us on the great success of her recent Waste Not Want Not recycling events (see picture) in Honiton, where people brought what they didn't want, took away what they did want, and all that was left over was a small box of broken crockery..
Karen would like to hear from people who are keen to help her organise more Waste Not Want Not events, hopefully spreading the recycling vibe to Exeter...

WORDS is a new Community Creative Writing Group.
"The aim of the group is to encourage writing skills in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere. The course runs for 12 weeks every other Saturday, commencing Saturday 10 March 2012.
During the course we will have guest tutors to guide and advise each person." says course tutor and local writer Barabara McCarthy.
Barbara joined us on the show to take us on a mercurial and uplifting voyage of verbal counterpoint and glittering wordplay, exploring the writers that have inspired her, and the wonder of the creative process itself.
